Short Courses: Canoe, Firecraft, Wild Edibles & More

 

These courses allow you to focus on a single skillset under the watchful eye of our instructors.  Each course runs only 3-4 hours, just perfect for a summer evening or an afternoon on the weekend.  Courses will include demonstrations, opportunities to practice and feedback based on your performance.

Please note that the times/fees provided for these course are negotiable.  Typically these courses are provided for groups and organizations, rather than a workshop that we schedule independently.  

72 Hour Kit Planning

The 72 hour kit, the get home bag, whatever you call it, this informative session is geared towards helping you meet the suggestions of the Alberta Emergency Management Agency.  Each home and person should be prepared to care for the essentials of comfort during an emergency situation of up to 72 hours.  This presentation will enable you to think critically about how and what you should be preparing in advance, to look at your home in a new light and give you the confidence to provide the essentials of food, water, warmth and shelter for yourself and your family.

Winter Driving and Road Safety

Your car is stuck, it's -30C and AMA is 4 hours away, how will you deal with your winter emergency.  This course will cover a defensive approach to winter driving, preparing your car for cold weather conditions, essential equipment you should be carrying, how to attach tow straps, portable heaters for inside your car, emergency equipment, and more.  This course is intended to increase your peace of mind while travelling through a prairie winter.

 

Length: 6:00pm - 8:30pm
